Green Building and Smart Features
Both the Center for Science and Education and the Forest Lodge are green buildings and have won awards for green design.
Completed in 1999, the Center for Science and Education was one of the region’s first truly green facilities. Its design and construction have influenced many subsequent buildings around the Hudson River Valley, as Forest staff have provided dozens of tours of the building each year to demonstrate its features (such as the annual Green Buildings Open House tour each October sponsored by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA).
