Green Building and Smart Features Usable Data Sensors and monitoring equipment in the Center for Science and Education enable performance tracking of some of the building’s sustainable energy features. The building’s embedded environmental monitoring system continuously monitors the Center’s air temperature and humidity, total water usage, waste water generated, total energy usage, and the proportion of energy used by the geothermal heating and cooling system. Performance parameters of the 24-kW solar panel array (total energy produced, peak AC power, performance index) are also monitored in the Center for Science and Education. Both data sets are available on request from the Consortium’s Data and Network Manager. Real-time and archived data on solar panel array performance can be obtained through Northern Power’s web site with prior arrangement through the Black Rock Forest staff.
