Frog Hill
Frog Hill is a western extension of Black Rock Mountain, named for a large rock on nearby Hulse Road that resembles a giant frog (note that only 4-wheel drive vehicles are permitted on Hulse Road due to its steep, rocky, narrow, and loose nature). A rocky area on top of Frog Hill at one of the higher elevations in the Forest is the location of the Ridgetop environmental monitoring station. From here, the ridge drops dramatically to the north and west, overlooking the outstanding Canterbury Brook Ecological Reserve area. |
