Two Gates

Two Gates is the name of a four-way intersection in Black Rock Forest where historic Continental Road intersects with Sutherland Road/Hulse Road.  It is named for the gates that block the northern extension of Continental Road and Hulse Road because those roads are not passable by most vehicles. A trail map can be found here to orient visitors.  Remnants of old farms can be found around this area. The yellow-blazed Stillman Trail leads northeast from Two Gates to the top of Black Rock Mountain, the large Sphagnum Pond wetlands are found to the south, and the Canterbury Brook Ecological Reserve area lies to the north.
