Green Building and Smart Features

Both the Center for Science and Education and the Forest Lodge use green building techniques and serve as models of sustainable design principles and technologies, with award-winning environmental features that include passive, solar heating, daylighting, a geothermal heat pump that eliminates the need to burn fossil fuel, wood and stone from the Forest itself, and water-conserving fixtures and composting toilets.  The Consortium’s environmental monitoring network includes data tracking the production of the solar power system and other building features.  More information is available here.
