Overview Black Rock Forest is supported by the annual dues of its member institutions, grants from foundations, government organizations, and corporations, and gifts from individuals. The Consortium has obtained grants for facilities and programs from leading foundations, including the National Science Foundation, the Kresge Foundation, the New York Community Trust, the Arthur Ross Foundation, and the Ambrose Monell Foundation. We are deeply appreciative of their support. Please join us as a Friend of the Forest! Your gift will support research that investigates the impacts of climate change, acid rain, mercury deposition, and invasive species on our local environment, as well as extraordinary public programs and K-12 science and environmental education programs for economically disadvantaged students. Your gift supports conservation efforts, including reforestation and restoration of native brook trout, and many other regional ecosystem management initiatives. You can make a tax-deductible contribution online now. To donate by mail, please download a Friends of the Forest form, fill it out and send it in! Make your lasting contribution to our regional environment by participating in The Green Ride, a 260-mile bike ride fundraiser, from New York City to the Catskills and back. Last year's Green Ride was a great success: it netted nearly $50,000 for the Forest's education programs and was a lot of fun. This year's Green Ride will take place on Columbus Day weekend, October 11-13, 2008. Join us for one of the most rewarding, meaningful and unforgettable rides of your life! |
