The 2021 Black Rock Forest Biodiversity Benefit highlighted the importance of getting outside, learning about your environment and turning your findings in to science.
By using the iNaturlist app to help collect scientific data observed from guided and solo hikes, Friends of Black Rock Forest were able to compare species diversity between Black Rock Forest and Central Park in NYC. Click here to view the final results from our citizen scientists.
Virtual Panel Discussion
Panelists from Columbia University, AMNH, the Audubon Society and NYC Parks explored the importance of biodiversity in our ecosystem and the impacts of citizen science during the virtual benefit which included an interactive panel Q & A session and the results & video of the in-person BioBlitz hikes.
