Research Symposia

Since 1999, Black Rock Forest Consortium has held a research symposium every other year to highlight the scientific investigations taking place in Black Rock Forest and around the Highlands, and to give researchers the opportunity to learn about each other’s work.  The next Symposia will be held on June 26, 2023. If you would like to be considered for presentation please contact Kate Terlizzi. Abstracts from past Research Symposium presentations can be reviewed here.

 Call for Presenters

Black Rock Forest is pleased to announce the 13th biennial Hudson Highlands Research Symposium, a forum to showcase current research and scholarship from or pertinent to the Hudson Highlands region. This 1-day meeting brings together research professionals (including students, faculty, practitioners) to foster conversations and future collaborations aimed to promote conservation, education, and science in the Hudson Highlands.

The symposium committee is inviting abstracts for poster and oral presentations on research and scholarship from a wide range of topics, including ecology, natural history, archaeology, technology, and conservation, related to the Hudson Highlands. We encourage presentations on completed or ongoing work.

Interested presenters should submit a title and presentation type (oral or poster) to Research Manager, Katie Terlizzi by May 1, 2023. Presenters will receive ~12 minutes for their talk, with 3 minutes for questions. There will be a poster session during lunch, but we encourage poster authors to display their posters for the full day. Approved presentations will require an abstract submitted no later than May 31, 2023. Limited lodging options are available at request.
